February Board and General League Meeting

Hilltop's Board and General League Meeting will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. in the Sacred Heart Church Falls Center located on the corner of North Manoa Road and Wilson Avenue. Coaches elections for the 2012 season will be held at this meeting. Anyone interested in coaching should contact Fred Steigerwalt, Mike Browne (baseball) or Joe Donato (softball). 8-&-Under Team Wins Maple Zone Christmas Tournament

Congratulations to Bud, Chris, Derrick and the entire 8-&-Under baseball team. Jimmy Wright and Kyle Lazer went three innings each for a 12-0 shutout of BYC to win the Maple Zone Christmas tournament going 4-0. Great job by everyone.

2012 Winter Warm-up Baseball Clinic

Hilltop will be hosting a winter baseball clinic for returning players ages 8 through 12 on Thursday nights from January 12 through February 16, 2012. Sessions will be held between 6:00 and 9:00 P.M. in Haverford Middle School Gym D. Specific time slots for the 8 to 10-year-old and 11 & 12-year-old age groups will be determined after registration. Registration for these sessions will be on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. in Haverford Middle School Gym D. If you are facing Haverford Middle School on Darby Road, Gym D is the building on the far left. The fee for the program is $25 and checks should be made payable to Hilltop Baseball.

Registration for the 2012 season is here! Returning players will be receiving their registration forms in the mail and the 2012 registration forms are now available on Hilltop's Registration page. Please see our 2012 Program Information document for details about the great baseball and softball programs Hilltop will be providing this season. Open Registration for the 2012 season will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. to Noon at two locations: The Sacred Heard Falls Center on the corner of Manoa Road and Wilson Avenue, and American Legion Post 667 on Steel Rd. A second Open Registration session will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the Manoa Elementary School cafeteria.

2011 Fall Baseball

Hilltop will be hosting Fall Baseball again this year for returning players who will be between 8 and 12 years old as of April 30, 2012. The Fall season will run from September 10 through October 30, 2011. Open registration for Fall Baseball will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. at the Hilltop snack bar. 8-year-old Ryan McCarthy Blasts Homerun

Eight-year-old Ryan McCarthy hit one out of the park during the Villanova vs. St. Joe's semifinal game on Sunday. Ryan is the first eight-year-old to hit the ball out of Hilltop Park since the Prep division was created five years ago. Villanova defeated St. Joe's 7-6.

Hilltop's Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies will be on Saturday, March 26, 2011. Teams will meet on Williamson Field behind Manoa School no later than 8:30 A.M. and the parade will begin at 9:00 A.M. sharp. 14 & Under DelVal Softball Tryouts

Hilltop Softball would like to invite all girls age 14 and under to an open try out for a 14U Elite Del Val team for the 2011 season. This team will consist of girls that are interested in playing travel style softball without an in-house obligation.

The first try out will be this Saturday, March 19th from 3:30 to 5:30pm at Chatham Park Elem School.

Please bring all equipment, spikes, sneakers and water bottles to this tryout.
If for some reason you are not able to attend this tryout, please contact me directly and let me know if your daughter is interested in playing. We can make other arrangements if necessary.

Annual Field Clean-up Day

Hilltop's annual field clean-up day will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. to Noon. Please come out and help us prepare our facilities for the upcoming season. Bring a rake from home and report to the snack bar area at 10:00 A.M. to receive an assignment. Thank you in advance for your help. With enough help we can be ready for opening day with just two hours of everyone's time.

12 & Under DelVal Softball Tryouts

Attention all 12U Softball Players/Parents:

The 12U Hilltop Hurricanes, a Del Val travel softball team, will be holding its first try-outs this weekend. This is an open tryout for the 2011 team and all girls are welcome. It is mandatory that you attend at least 2 try-out sessions. Additional try-out dates will be posted as soon as they are scheduled but are expected to be in the next week or so. To be eligible to play for this team your daughter must be 12 or younger as of December 31st, 2010. Try-outs will be held at Steel Field. Composite Bat Update

Babe Ruth League has extended the moratorium on the use of composite bats to the Cal Ripken Division (ages 4 - 12) of Babe Ruth Baseball, effective immediately. A listing of licensed baseball bats approved for use in the Cal Ripken Divisions has been provided by Babe Ruth League. Please click here for the list of bats approved by Babe Ruth League for the 2011 season. Hilltop's Board of Directors discussed two options for the use of composite bats during the January board meeting. The first motion was to adopt the directive from Babe Ruth League. A second motion was made to ban all composite bats from use during in-house play. A vote on the use of composite bats will occur at the February board meeting.

Babe Ruth League Approves Moratorium on Composite Bats

Babe Ruth League has approved a moratorium on the use of composite bats in Babe Ruth Baseball (ages 13-15 and 16-18), effective immediately. The moratorium will follow the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules. At this time, the moratorium does not apply to Cal Ripken divisions (12 and under), but Babe Ruth League hopes to provide clear direction for those divisions in the very near future. $250 Reward being offered for break-in information

On Friday evening the Hilltop snack bar was broken into sometime between 8:30 P.M. and 7:00 A.M. The Hilltop Board of Directors is offering reward of up to $250 for information that leads to the arrest of the individual(s) that broke into the snack bar.
