Field Clean-up Day 2010

After a long and snowy off-season Hilltop needs everyone's help to prepare our fields for the upcoming season. Our annual field clean-up day will be on Saturday March 20, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon.

Hilltop Hurricanes Girls Softball Travel Team Tryouts

Hilltop Adopts Move-up Procedure

Saturday Softball Clinics

Starting Saturday January 9 Hilltop will begin indoor practice for ALL girls in the Minor (10U) & Major division (12U). This is not a pitching clinic, but an open forum to practice general skills and shake the dust off the gloves. The clinics will be held at the Chatham Park School Gym from 1-3 P.M.

Hilltop's Andrew Sardella Wins Phillies Home Run Derby

10-and-Under Hurricanes Wrap Up Season With DelVal Championship

The Hilltop Hurricanes 10-and-Under girls' softball team recently won the Del Val Tournament held in Briarcliffe. The Hurricanes went 4-0 in the tournament. They turned a game ending double play to claim a 2-0 victory over Glenolden and the Championship. This team also place 2nd in the Drexel Hill Tournament in early July. Congratulations on a fantastic season!

12-and-Under Hurricanes Repeat at the DelVal Tournament

The Hilltop Hurricanes 12-and-Under girls softball team won the DelVal Tournament for the second straight year. The tournament was held in Briarcliffe from July 17 to July 19. The Hurricanes went 3-1 in the tournament with a great win over Brookline to claim the Championship again.

Warrington is 2009 Southeast Pennsylvania 9-and-Under State Champion

The 9-and-Under team opened their District tournament with impressive victories over Ridley and Highland Park. They play Springfield on Saturday, July 11 at 10:00 A.M. at Llanerch Hills. The winner will advance to the District Championship game.

Hilltop's 11-and-Under team takes on Llanerch Hills on Friday night at 6:30 P.M. at Highland Park's field on Lansdowne Avenue. The winner goes on to face Springfield for the District Title.

8-and-Under Team Wins Their District Championship

On Thursday night the Hilltop 8-and-Under Red team won the District Title with a 5 - 4 victory over Llanerch Hills. They defeated Llanerch Hills twice after falling to them earlier in the tournament. Congratulations go out to Dennis, Roy, Todd, and all players and parents for a job well done. They begin competition in the State tournament on July 25 at Llanerch Hills.

Springfield Is 2009 PA 10-and-Under District 1 Champion

Springfield shut out Hilltop on Tuesday night, remaining undefeated in the District Tournament to win the District 1 Championship at the 10-and-Under level. Springfield advances to the Southeast Pennsylvania 10-and-Under State Tournament which starts on Saturday, July 18 in Warrington, PA. Hilltop has also qualified and will join Springfield in representing District 1 in the State Tournament. Bracket

Hilltop and Springfield Vie For District Crown

With Hilltop and Springfield set to play for the District Championship starting Tuesday night, here's a look at the two competitors:

Springfield cruised through their first 3 games against Westgate, Hilltop and Ridley to stay in the winners' bracket, despite a tough second-round game against Hilltop, which they won 8 - 7. By remaining in the winners' bracket, Springfield has saved themselves from playing the extra games that come with the losers' bracket. Springfield in 3 - 0 in the tournament and has outscored opponents 29 - 13. Since Springfield is undefeated in the tournament, a win Tuesday night would give them the District crown, but Hilltop proved to be their toughest opponent so far.

Hilltop won their first-round game against Highland Park, only to suffer a tough second-round loss to Springfield, with the winning run being scored in the bottom of the sixth inning. Following the loss to Springfield, Hilltop got hot and burned through their opponents in the losers' bracket, going 3 - 0 and outscoring opponents 40 - 13 during that run. Hilltop is 4 - 1 in the tournament and is coming into the Championship round with solid pitching and a hungry offense that has outscored opponents 52-22 in just 5 games. Playing out of the losers' bracket, Hilltop will have to beat Springfield Tuesday night and Wednesday night to become the District Champion, and the team is eager to flash their hot bats against the team that pushed them out of the winners' bracket.

Hilltop Stages Late Comeback, Advances to District Finals

On Monday night Hilltop secured their chance to compete for the District Championship against Springfield by defeating Ridley. In a high-scoring game where possession of the lead changed sides several times, Ridley took an 11 - 9 lead into the sixth inning. Hilltop strung together a series of hits that would knock in 5 runs in the frame and took a 14 - 11 lead, which they held onto, shutting down Ridley in the bottom half of the sixth to win the game. With the win Hilltop and Springfield will face off in the District Finals. Bracket

Hilltop Wins the 2009 Aston-Middletown Diamond Classic Tournament

Hilltop went 5 - 0 to win the tournament, beating Aston-Middletown Little League, Unionville, Brookhaven by forfeit, Ridley, and the South Jersey Warriors in the Championship game.

Hilltop Sends Lansdowne Packing

Hilltop had another dominant outing on Thursday night as they eliminated Lansdowne from the tournament by a score of 9 - 2. Pat Lord's pinpoint control on the mound held the Lansdowne Lightning offense in check as Hilltop took a 5 - 0 lead going into the fifth inning. Lansdowne began chipping away by scoring two runs in the top half of the fifth, but Hilltop added four more runs in the bottom half with a bases-clearing triple to Left Field and another run scored on the wild throw to home, putting the game out of reach. Hilltop will play Ridley when the tournament resumes on Monday July 6. The winner of Monday's game will compete with Springfield for the District Championship on Tuesday, and Wednesday, if necessary. Springfield Last Standing in Winners' Bracket, Awaits Opponent

Springfield guaranteed themselves to compete for the District 1 Championship by knocking Ridley out of the winners' bracket Wednesday night. Ridley, who had scored a combined 33 runs to win their first two games, was only able to muster 3 runs against Springfield. Scoring a combined 14 runs in their previous two games, Springfield piled-up 15 runs to sink Ridley to the losers' bracket. Ridley will play the winner of Thursday night's elimination match between Lansdowne and Hilltop. The 10-U District 1 Tournament will break for the Independence Day holiday weekend after Thursday's game. The tournament will resume on Monday, July 6, and a District Champion will be crowned on Tuesday, or Wednesday if Springfield does not win on Tuesday. Bracket

In an elimination game on Tuesday, Lansdowne narrowly defeated Westgate by a score of 4 - 3. Lansdowne moves on play another elimination game against Hilltop on Thursday. Four teams remain in the District Tournament: Ridley and Springfield in the winners' bracket, and Hilltop and Lansdowne in the losers' bracket. Hilltop Rebounds Against Narberth

After a tough loss against Springfield Sunday afternoon, Hilltop rebounded strongly in an elimination game Monday night against Narberth. Hilltop won the match-up by a score of 17 - 0, eliminating Narberth from the District Tournament. Hilltop now awaits the winner of tonight's elimination game between Lansdowne and Westgate. On Sunday second-round play at the 10-and-Under District 1 Tournament continued. Hilltop suffered a tough loss at the hands of Springfield, with the winning run being scored for Springfield in the bottom of the sixth inning on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to Left Field. Springfield moves on to play Ridley, the winner of which is guaranteed to compete for the District Championship. Hilltop will have to battle their way through the losers' bracket, starting with a 5:45 P.M. game against Narberth on Monday night. Earlier Sunday, Westgate defeated Highland Park. Westgate will play Lansdowne, but Highland Park has the misfortune of being eliminated from the Tournament. In first-round action Ridley defeated Narberth 17 - 1 on Friday night. On Saturday Hilltop edged Highland Park 4 - 2 and Springfield advanced to the second round over Westgate 6 - 3. On Friday evening the Hilltop snack bar was broken into sometime between 8:30 P.M. and 7:00 A.M. The Hilltop Board of Directors is offering reward of up to $250 for information that leads to the arrest of the individual(s) that broke into the snack bar. There will be a buffet and open bar after the event at J.D. McGillicuddy's of Ardmore. The J.D. McDonald foundation is a 2009 sponsor of Hilltop's Challenger Division. Forms for the golf outing are available at Hilltop's snack bar.
